Description
An interracial group of 52 children pose for a photograph. One child holds a sign that says "Walker Dis. No. 2, Nov. 4, 1924.” Walker constructed a brick two room school in 1922 at the northeast corner of Butterworth and Maynard with additions being added as attendance increased. The brick building replaced a wood building that had been at southeast corner of Butterworth and Maynard since 1860, called Oak Grove due to the number of oak trees surrounding it.
